92799 2002-10-25 03:02:00 To be more exact:
Coolcases - $415 (homepages.ihug.co.nz)

StylesPC - $404 (www.stylespc.co.nz)

But I'm pretty sure they are the same place (or they work together at least), so you're getting exactly the same thing.

92800 2002-10-25 03:08:00 Why do the rest of the family think I'm nuts because I rather like those? They think it's ugly! :O

mashimaro, are you getting one?

Ugly.. :O ? I think it's the state of the art .. I like it even better than Alluminum :D Just place an light tube inside and the whole machine glows ...

Mind you .. the draw back is to clean it very often .. u don't wanna see thick layer of dust or a family of spider reunion while u're lookin at it ..

I'm thinking of getting one .. when I have extra $ :D How about you? Don't hold back because other thinks it's ugly .. coz u're the boss :D

92803 2002-10-25 03:33:00 I think its hideous. And apparently the "joinery" (for want of a better word) on them can be dodgy, so if you drop it too hard it may crack or split along the joins.

But whatever rocks your boat I guess. I prefer the aluminium with window kits and subtle lighting :D (she says sitting in front of her beige Vectra)

92804 2002-10-25 03:48:00 Too right I'm the boss! :D

They think it's ugly seeing all the bits inside a PC and can't understand why I like looking at them. They think it should all be covered up.

I'm not too sure of the practical nature of those cases, and also it's a bit above my budget for that kind of thing.

Keep spider families out? I would have thought you'd enjoy watching a family of spiders doing some interesting dances when they discover the temperature of the things they like to walk across. :D

Dust is another matter. Plastic is notorius for attracting it you know. ;-)

By the way, I've had that Intel snow globe on my desktop for a week or so and still enjoy playing with it. :D

92805 2002-10-25 04:13:00 Another issue is RF radiation from the case, doesn't look like it would protect too well against that roofus (483)
92806 2002-10-25 04:26:00 You won't be able to buy a built computer in such a case. It won't comply with the radiation standards. One of those sellers has a mention of that ... "intended for display".

I like industry standard 19" racks. The PDP11/34 has a 5 feet high rack. :D
