| 92528 | 2002-10-24 07:34:00 | Hi... Lately have been consistently getting a invalid page fault when playing MP3 mucic files (In WIN98SE, 380MB Ram). I have reinstalled from recent magazine CD discs, and also after downloading from Microsoft's update site...but always getting the same annoying dialog box popping...that stops the file from playing... I have huntedthrough Google and Microsoft support, but there appears to be no specific and easy fix-it for this specific fault which is (as copied):... WMPLAYER caused an invalid page fault in module WINMM.DLL at 016f:bfdf6633. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=016f EIP=bfdf6633 EFLGS=00010246 EBX=ffe790fb SS=0177 ESP=06cdfcf8 EBP=bff76ec4 ECX=81b68244 DS=0177 ESI=00000000 FS=510f EDX=81b6d09c ES=0177 EDI=00000001 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 89 58 04 8b f0 a1 38 a1 df bf 6a 00 6a 00 89 06 Stack dump: 06cdfd5c 1d1c9050 008237ec 00e707d0 00000000 06cdfd20 0000000c 00000000 00000000 008237ec 1d1c22e2 0000001e 0000001e 1d1c1ff4 00823950 00000001 ...Anyone understand that?... I sure cannot, - but any help appreciated. Currently resigned to the faster and basic (but error free) MP3 Coolplayer. I admit that I have really thrashed WMP with MP3' and CD's lately, I wonder if that would have caused this persistant problem? Cheers... |

| 92529 | 2002-10-24 19:47:00 | Kahawai_Chaser, From Invalid_Page_Faults (www.aumha.org) "...Invalid Page Faultsare memory-behavior errors. They can be caused by too little RAM; damaged RAM; msimatched RAM; too little free hard drive space in the partition housing the swap file; poor memory management (www.aumha.org) choices by the user; overheating; or (most commonly) programming errors. Usually, two programs are mentioned in the error message: Start troubleshooting with these, either by running repair utilities, replacing implicated modules, uninstalling the program(s) altogether for diagnostic purposes, or reinstalling one or both for diagnosis and/or repair. Nearly always, this problem will first appear soon after you have made software, hardware, or configuration changes to your computer, and can be traced to those changes. (NOTE: Virus infestation is one involuntary type of software installation that should be considered.)..." Note the site Invalid_Page_Faults (www.aumha.org) and have a look at a number of the suggestions there. Cheers, Babe. |
