93546 2002-10-27 17:31:00 dear friends,

I must contact you with a problem concerning outlook express unsolvable to me:
I use outlook express for approximately two weeks now . First everything was correct . Since a few days the headers are unkorrekt . Instead of my correct email return address, my T-Online customer number is displayed . That concerns all three email accounts, which I use . I used Eudora before . After re-activating Eudora, the same problem came up with this email programm .
When I send my emails via the internet, using twix, the problem does not appear - all headers are correct .
So the problem must be somewhere in my (@*@*@) windows XP .
I do not have any idea, how outlook is able to read my t-online customer number and the name of my HD (which is also Atofritz) and put it into my email adress . Since I use two of the accounts for buisiness reasons, the problem is urgent . I cannot send emails to customers confronting them with a return adress of: 510042598289-0001@t-online . de <510042598289-0001@t-online . de> which means nothing else, than any of my 3 email accounts, I use .
Maybe anyone of you had this problem already and can help me to stop this .
To give you some more informations, I attach the headers of four email before and after the problems to this mail:

thank you very much for your help in advance

93547 2002-10-27 20:07:00 I had that problem a while ago but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it. I do know that I changed my computer's System Settings to get rid of personal info like that, even resorting to searching in the registry and changing some stuff in there.

I do know there is another setting somewhere in either Dialup Networking or in the Modem Regional Settings or similar but can't remember where! Hopefully our other gurus will be able to offer better advice.

93548 2002-10-27 20:15:00 Have a look in Settings > Dialup Networking > Properties (right click once on your dial up) > click the Security Tab and see what entry you have in there. If incorrect you could try changing it to what you beleive it should be.

Also another place worth looking and this also affects the information which will be displayed in the InBox at the other end is. Open Outlook Express ( it is OE isn't it though the principal will apply to Outlook) > Tools > Accounts > Properties > General > what name is appearing in there.

93549 2002-10-27 21:52:00 first of all I have to thank you, Susan aud you Duckyduck for your quick help.
Your hints helped me to solve the problem.
I did not know of smtprelays. I found our, that I cannot use the normal smtp address of the company I use to dial in with, but have to apply for a smtprelay. I I use a normal smtp, it cannot be always guaranteed, that the correct return address is displayed, when you use another emailprovider
Which I did. Now all is funktioning well. For us in Germany, this is:
T-Online smtp = smtprelay.t online.de.
Many greetings from the capital of cold Germany Berlin. Be happy that you live at the other side of the world, looking for summer. Here it is a maximum of 5 degree centigrate in the moment with one of the first stroms of fall
