| 93498 | 2002-10-27 09:54:00 | This weekend I bought a Sony DSC-P51 - not yet listed in the gPhoto2 digital camera interface software for Linux. I thought I would have to be reduced to using the supplied driver and software for Windows until this camera was included in gPhoto. However a USB camera as a USB mass storage device is most likely presented to the system as a SCSI device - all you have to do is find the device number (most likely sda1) and mount it. I have an external Zip drive which is also treated as a SCSI device so the camera became sdb1. Mount it and the files appear in your favourite file manager for viewing, copying, etc. Hope this is useful to somebody? John |

I really don't want to do anything new on my 'doze box as i know the only way to learn Linux is to force myself to use it, and not just stick with what i kinda know. Thus i am most pleased to hear that most Digicam will be usable under linux .Clueless |
