93500 2002-10-27 09:42:00 I hate my computer... sure, it lets me surf the net and play some cool games but endless amounts of tinkering have left the OS looking quite patched and not the most stable... System restore wouldn't work... and my problems arose when I thought about using nVidia drivers for my Asus ti4400 instead of the recommended Asus ones...

I've heard about these cards not liking anything but Asus drivers, but oh no... in an effort to get higher and higher benchmarks, I installed those blasted nVidia drivers and now keep crashing unexpectedly... like completely rebooting...

I've created a startup disc, and booted to dos to use my most famous dos command... "format c:" ... is there no God in this world? What did I deserve to have to spend my long weekend reinstalling my OS??

Well, karma aside, I'm doing it... I'm going back to 98SE... shelve that XP Pro for a while longer... Wish me luck... :_|

93501 2002-10-27 09:48:00 good luck, seems there are always faults with things in this entire spectrum, nothing is perfect (besides me :D:D) well enjoy MS 98 for all the time u can.

93502 2002-10-27 09:51:00 I guess the clincher for me was gaming in XP still hasn't been convincing... using the NT way of doing things, a lot of games will undoubtedly have problems...

I have the 98SE installed... now time for those drivers...

93503 2002-10-27 20:34:00 There's two sorts of geeks: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" types and "Tweak it 'till it breaks" types.

No prizes for guessing which one you are. :D

Wicked person. :p

93505 2002-10-27 21:51:00 Oh wow, I just realised I made the double century in posts just before I got to this post... to think... in another 200 posts, I will probably be reinstalling my PC with Windows Longhorn or whatever... :^O

Yeah... how could you tell SusanB... hehehe :8}

I'm a glutton for mischief!

93506 2002-10-28 00:57:00 After your reinstall Lo, how long do you think it will be till you start tinkering again.

Or are you going to join us in the "don't stuff around with it unless it's stuffed camp"

93507 2002-10-28 06:05:00 Oh don't get me wrong... I'll tinker with my PC for a good while yet... there's ram upgrades, networking, gaming, etc... SOOO much more to do yet! :) Lohsing (219)
93508 2002-10-28 06:09:00 the computer is an endless void with which a person can never be satisfied, u'll just keep tweaking to wot the lateset hype is, and until that hype is finished u will never stop tweaking ur pc.:D

cheers,

93509 2002-10-28 06:26:00 I'm the second type.....

Mostly 'cause I want to install four operating systems on one PC and I also want to check out the latest software for all of them.

It's ONLY a HOBBY.
