| 94015 | 2002-10-29 02:58:00 | This post is very off-topic, sorry. Can anyone tell me what the current estimated number of possums in NZ is, (it used to be around 85 Million). Why do I want to know this?? No particular reason at all :D Cheers Liam Press F1 Chatroom! (http://www.chatf1.net.nz) ]:) |

| 94016 | 2002-10-29 03:00:00 | "It is estimated that the New Zealand possum population now tops 70 million and chomps its way through seven million tonnes of vegetation per year." (www.doc.govt.nz) And they have the loveliest fur. P.S - If anyone knows a furrier who sells pelts, I'm after some at the moment :D |

I remember when I lived in Orewa, my flatmate ran over and injured a possum on the way home from the pub. As a animal lover, all he wanted to do was pick the half-dead beastie up and carry it to a near-by vet - not realising how nasty those injured possums can get! |

If they're cured and tanned, then I'm interested. No carcasses through the mail though - NZ post won't like that! > When i lived on the Wet Coast, we thought possums > were great fun VVVVRRRRRMMMM VRRRMMM swerve... got > it! <homersimpson > The Wet Coast, eh? </homersimpson > When I lived in the wops I had a great time running down possums and rabbits at night in my boyfriends mothers Volvo S/W :D Fire engine red all 2 tonnes of it! |

| 94021 | 2002-10-29 03:20:00 | I once hitchhiked a ride with this freak westcoaster who was more concerned for his tyres that for getting all the possums on the road... weird No possum bones ever managed to peirce my usually near bald tires! .Clueless |

| 94022 | 2002-10-29 03:22:00 | While were on the subject of possums, do you think it has ever occurred to DOC to put a bounty on possums. A while ago I read a report on a 1080 drop near here (warkworth) and it averaged $2 per kill! Now if DOC even pain out half of that ($1 each) it would certainly help motivate trappers/recreational shooters etc. Cheers Liam |

| 94024 | 2002-10-29 03:28:00 | I think it would have to be more than that to motivate people. And if you set the bounty high enough to be worthwhile, people would start breeding them. :D | Graham L (2) | ||
