93871 2002-10-28 20:28:00 A few days ago my mouse pointer changed while browsing the internet. We all know that this happens occaisionally so I didn't think anything of it.

However my pointer changes back to it intermittantly, even when I'm not on the internet. I've tried changing the pointer in Control Panel, but it periodically reverts back again. I'm using WinXP

93872 2002-10-28 20:46:00 What does it the pointer turn into? A hand pointing a finger? Cause this happens when you go over hyperlinks roofus (483)
93873 2002-10-28 20:59:00 I Roofus, yes it is a hand with a pointing finger, but not the one I used to have ot the one I try to change to. It's a completely different look. The XP theme I'm using is Aquarium from the XP Plus pack, this has a busy pointer which looks like a ships wheel. Since I re-selected the mouse pointer in control panel the wheel seems to inbed itself unto the hand. So I now get a hand with a ships wheel pattern. crozier (2004)

Ok when you get that, it means the computer is working away, but you can still use the mouse to point on things (you can multithread)
When you have just the ships wheel, it means the computer is working hardout and you shouldn't click on anything else until its done.

93875 2002-10-28 21:45:00 I don't think that's it Roofus. I've had XP since it was released last year and I've never seen this pointer before, or in other versions of Windows. I have noticed a difference in the busy pointer activity before, but nothing like this. The original hand had a 'T' on the left of the finger and an inverted 'T' on the right, not something I've ever seen before. As I said, it just appeared one day while surfing. crozier (2004)
93876 2002-10-28 22:33:00 OK well goto your moust pointer settings in control panel, and have a look and see if you can see it in there, if so, what job is it perscribed to roofus (483)
93877 2002-10-29 05:52:00 No, it's not in the mouse settings. Interestingly it only appears after I've run Internet Explorer. I've deleted cookies now. But no joy so far. crozier (2004)

93879 2002-10-29 10:12:00 After deleting cookies, IE cache and offline content then _restarting_ I got rid of it. Must have been something I picked up on the 'net crozier (2004)
