94138 2002-10-29 08:56:00 Warehouse sell SKC brand CDR's, they are pretty good quality and u get 22 discs for $20, and i have yet to see a coaster with them (crosses fingers and prays to god) and besides its the Warehouse, where everyone gets a bargain, so quality is assured. :D

cheers,

94139 2002-10-29 09:06:00 u could also get CloneCD here (www.cdmediaworld.com), but it requires a key for u to unlock and use forever. it will only last for like 14days wihtout the key. u could easily find a key on the net, but i guess it's illegal to do that. ]:) :D But it's very, very possible.

cheers,

94142 2002-10-29 11:05:00 I had quite a different experience with Melody CDs.

I bought a pack of 25 and about half of them turned out to be either coasters or had one or more unreadable files. I think the high rate was caused by the visible distortions on the recording surface.

And when using a different pack rated at 40x in a 32x burner the reflective layer disintegrated on two disks while they were being burnt.

re: The Harvey Norman CDs, they are probably sold out. The Dunedin one sold out almost instantly (I got there at 4pm :-( ).

Go and have another look and if they are all gone ask them if they are getting any more in. I bought a few packs in the ChCh store several weeks ago and the crate was still there the following week. Then on Monday they still had a crate full. They must have been filling them up as fast as they could because everyone was walking out with an armful of the limit "allowed".

94144 2002-10-29 22:10:00 I had bad experiences with melodies in my old burner, but have not tried them in my new one.

SKC from the Warehouse are good in terms of burning, but the reflective surface flakes of very easily.

Harvey norman ones are great. I bought some a month or two ago in Dunedin. I then went back a few weeks ago and got some more.

Go back to Harvey Normans as I am sure they will have some more soon.

Finally - if you need a very good CD-R then a very good compromise between quality and cost would be Emtec. These are very good as the reflective surface is protected on both sides by plastic, not just on the read (bottom) side, and they work out to be about $1.30 each. I have never had one of these fail and I have been using them for my very important stuff for years.
