| 1318196 | 2012-12-14 03:36:00 | Hi guys. I now have a Panasonic CF-50 laptop running Xp Pro and 512 MB's ram It's running as slow as XXXXXXXXXX and starting to drive me nuts. I Googled and it can, I think, go upto 1.5 GB's system ram. My question is, would this speed it up? I use C Cleaned and clean out the prefect often and takes anything from 15 seconds upwards to start a program or some worse. Take to make a cupper delay. Was thinking going Linux, but what would be the easiest and fastest on this machine? Thank you, Ian |

And depending on what it says after CF-50, will tell you how much ram it supports This depends on the specific model number: CF-50W/Y (Mk1) -- On-board 256MB. Expandable to 768MB CF-50A/B/X (Mk2) -- On-board 256MB or 512MB. Expandable to 768MB or 1,024MB CF-50D/E/F/G/H (Mk3) -- On-board 256MB or 512MB. Expandable to 1,024MB or 1280MB CF-50L/M (Mk4) -- On-board 256MB or 512MB. Expandable to 1,280MB or 1,536MB CF-50J/K (Mk5) -- On-board 256MB or 512MB. Expandable to 1,280MB or 1,536MB It also depends on the above, on what the CPU is in it This depends on the specific model number: CF-50W/Y (Mk1) -- Intel® Mobile Pentium® 4 Processor-M 1.9GHz CF-50A/B/X (Mk2) -- Intel® Mobile Pentium® 4 Processor-M 2.0GHz or 2.2GHz CF-50D/E/F/G/H (Mk3) -- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 1.4GHz OR 1.6GHz CF-50L/M (Mk4) -- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 1.7GHz CF-50J/K (Mk5) -- Intel® Pentium® M Processor 1.5GHz |

Started up okay, but lappy only running off wireless and I could work out how to set it up. Not as simple as Windoz |

| 1318201 | 2012-12-14 08:02:00 | Personally I would go for Puppy as it runs almost exclusively from RAM as its so small, its a tiny download and can be run off a flash drive if your notebook can boot from it instructions here (www.pendrivelinux.com). Puppy is actually fairly easy to set up too, I'm not a Linux user really yet even I worked it out |

| 1318203 | 2012-12-14 11:05:00 | Puppy is nice but I find it a bit limited and I prefer distros that you can install to drive and upgrade without having to reinstall. As for WiFi, probably some driver issue. Can you post the model of your WiFi card? |
