Sure, I can understand not being registered throwing you, but then to blame that and turn that into a huge issue when you fail to throw well enough. Regardless of the other one cheating, her conduct was pretty awful. Now Nick Willis, much better. He was even more of a disappointment, but there was no excuses, no complaining, just an 'I didn't run well enough' from him. Good on him, he was a true professional and definitely impressed me with his conduct. She might of behaved badly because she knew the gold medal went to someone dodgy, heck I thought it while watching it. Other athletes had suggested it. And let's face it female athletes have gotten better looking since the 80's and 90's, about the same time drug testing has gotten better.
Nice one Val

1294589 2012-08-14 06:49:00 Must be something about being "tech" that makes Iantech and Wainuitech so negative. Well done Valerie Adams who didn't need to cheat to get gold. As far as being a bad loser, what a load of crap. She IS a bad loser, none of the other people than won medals for Silver or Bronze blamed everyone and everything else. It was shown many times they simply commented they were beaten fair and square.

Sure she is good and didn't cheat, but when you lose its bad sportsman ship to whinge and moan about it. Look at he womans rowing, the oar breaking, OK they were pissed but never performed and blamed everyone else - failures happen in equipment no matter how much you prepare.

1294590 2012-08-14 07:27:00 Would say in the world of Shot putting and the tight community it has at the top level each competitor would have spread sheets of each competitors performance over each competition season

Looks like the Belarussian's chart would have a distinct spike going from the reports today and most of the competitors would have suspicions that something was not right.

I personally think she has every right to be a bit pissed at the way the paperwork bungle added to the Day,but she bettered her own distance but could not compete with a cheat's distance

What a pity you got it wrong Richard.
She was a bad loser.

1294592 2012-08-14 08:35:00 It's bloody overkill again! Head lines on 3 News, then lead story on the sports section and now over 20 minutes on Campbell Live. Valerie Adams getting the Gold Medal for the shot putt. Why don't they realise that over-reporting actually devalues the story!! (And it's carrying on after "the break"!) I'm not decrying her achievement but I'm totally bollocking the way the media "push" it! tuiruru (12277)
1294593 2012-08-14 09:28:00 I like Val, Sure, She sucked at losing, But losing sucks. Metla (12)

Oh definitely. I think she did really well to win the gold medal, I wasn't saying her achievement wasn't great.
Metla, losing sure does suck, and I can well understand why she was being disappointed in it - particularly saying she'd had suspected the Belerussian of cheating. But, still, when comparing her to Willis....Willis was more of a disappointment, and just as disappointed as Adams, however his reaction and how he took it was, to me, so much better than how Adams handled herself.

1294596 2012-08-14 09:44:00 Really?

Aussies have treated their team like eggs, and the Kiwis have done far better.

1294597 2012-08-14 09:45:00 Have to agree about the media and the way they are reacting. The Russian can and probably will appeal it. If she looses, it might take a year before Val sees it and if the russian is successful, Val wont see it at all. And Val is still behaving like a spoilt brat saying she doesnt wish to see the russian or play against her again - not to mention her stating that Ostapchuk has "robbed" her of the medal and got the glory of the 80,000 people in the stadium when she received the gold medal.
Whatever the outcome, Ostapchuk could be playing again in 2 years so Val better get used to it unless she is quitting. There are ways of doing and saying things when you are in the public eye and I dont think Val has done either very well. If Ostapchuks appeal is successful, Val could find herself in court after calling her a "doping cheat".
