1318992 2012-12-18 11:37:00 I am setting up an older XP PC for a friend of mine, it has Avast on it currently, am going to put MSSA on it instead
The machine already also has Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware on it, do I need either or both of these if I have MSSA on it?
PC is an older P4 with 1.5 GB memory, and is a freebie, so anything I can remove to improve performance that isnt needed is a bonus

Regards
Peter

1318994 2012-12-18 20:03:00 Take off Adaware and put on Malwarebytes. Disable Indexing, and put on Ccleaner for a clean up tool.

1318996 2012-12-19 00:04:00 Cheers, thank you for that.
If I install Malwarebytes, do I need to keep Spybot or discard it
Already have CCleaner on there

I'd keep spybot.

1318998 2012-12-19 01:15:00 From memory superantispyware is better than spybot. icow (15313)
1318999 2012-12-19 01:24:00 You gain nothing by removing spybot anyway. Unless you have tea timer enabled which you shouldn't because it's more annoying than useful. Otherwise it's not memory resident and uses bugger all space dugimodo (138)

Keep both.
And Ccleaner doesn't remove malware, it's a clean up tool.

1319001 2012-12-19 04:33:00 On the principal that no one malware removal program is 100% efficient I would have at least two. I run both of these programs and Superantispyware as well. PPp (9511)
