94236 2002-10-30 10:07:00 Yeah I have used them before Baldy. They rock.

As do the Harvey Norman branded ones as well.

94238 2002-10-30 20:27:00 Hi, i'm not anywhere near a shore but have you look in your local New World?!? I'm in Taumarunui and once every month or two Sony brand CD-R disks are on special for $1.50 each, thats with a case and an actually usefull paper thing. I think they're fairly reliable, had a couple of failures but that may have been my PC.

Whatever you do stay away from the cheap SKC ones, i'm sure they're rubbish.

Actually SKC are one of the better brands. I know with VHS tapes, that most of the big duplicating houses use SKC blanks for distribution to the video rental market.

I have never duffed a CDR using a SKC disc

94240 2002-10-31 00:33:00 Harvey Norman on the shore have 10 for $4.95 or 25 for $11.95 I think!
I bought the 10 Pack Spindle on monday, and it wasnt just a labour weekend thing either!

If you have the extra dosh and wanna go all out to make sure that the CD-R will work on all players, then Kodak Gold+Silver Ultima 650MB Is the ONLY ONE that I've seen work on ALL players!

DSE ones are relatively good quality also. Harvey Norman's ones do the trick, but on some real older 2x players, it might not go quite so well!!!

That's all in my experience with a LOT of different types.

Who would agree/disagree with me?

BTW, Melody are relatively good too, not just suited for audio as I first thought, but they are pretty good for audio, playing on my old as stereo where DSE wouldn't, Melody and the Kodak were the only CD-R's that would actually be picked up by the stereo. (Dont bang it, I know its old.. I have a PC with MP3's, so who needs a stereo for CD's??)

Cheers

94241 2002-10-31 00:37:00 BTW, I agreee with Blady, SKC are actually quite good, and come with those cool soft cases that have pockets on both sides!!! Chilling_Silence (9)

:O, i'm appalled, how could u say that. SKC are cheap, but they aren't rubbish! They are quite reliable. The Sony ones are good aswell but ur paying too much per cd and Sony try to make highend cdr discs which can fail occaisionally. I haven't even had a coaster with SKC yet. i have tried Sony, Mitsubishi and other high end discs, these either perfom good, or badly, and i always end up with coasters when te burn process doesn't work.
You should hunt for variety not brandnames:D and try to get the best deal. $1.50 per disc is a bit steep. Some offer like 90c- $1 per disc, depending on wot store u go to.

94243 2002-10-31 03:59:00 mmm... harvey normans work out at under 50C each. DSE will give you theirs for $1 each, likewise with Melody!

SKC work out at around $1.2 but that's coz they've got the case too. Dont dis the SKC!!!

94245 2002-10-31 05:21:00 I personally don't like the Kodaks.

The cheap ones always seem to work for me. Though I refuse to but pink CD-Rs
