94330 2002-10-29 22:01:00 My PC seems to be running a lot slower than usual. I have run Norton's virus check, Norton's utilities, done a defrag, etc. and can't idenify a problem. When I shut my machine down, I get hung up on files not responding, either "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin" or "Msqsrv32" Can someone please tell me what these are and whether they could be realated to my first problem? All help much appreciated. K.B. kbcad (1025)

For msqsrv32 look at some of the above links for information.

For "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin" try some of the below.Remove te <> where applicaible.

Any additional information go to Google.com and enter the search words for more links.

Another place to look might be in Start > Run > type in msconfig > press Enter > Startup Tab > and look at what programs are loading and running in the background and remove the ticks from those that do not need to be there. For a reasonably good list of what can be removed or kept try the following link.

www.pacs-portal.co.uk

After reboot you will get a message advising that you are using selective startup, tick and carry on.

94332 2002-10-29 22:24:00 Nice coverage duckyduck. have a look at formatting options so that you can but those links into hyperlinks and make things easier for newbies.

Now KB. These error occuring a probably caused by a whole lot of crap on your computer. I see your getting RNAdmin messages. Are you on a network? If not then you don't need this enabled.

If your using Win9x then goto device properties (right click on my computer)
goto disk drives, then click on the properties of your hard disks, make sure that DMA is enabled. It may come up with a warning message. But if your computer is 5 years or younger then this won't really concern you.

You will find that you will make most of your performance gains in the msconfig, as duckyduck instructed.
How much ram do you have?
Ram is cheap these days and sticking in another stick of it, will result in a great performance boost.

94333 2006-04-12 14:37:00 "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin" is most likely Real One Player. Go to Taks Manager, Processes tab, and if REALSCHED.EXE is over 80%, click it and click "End Process". This disables it temporarily. To disable permanently, REMOVE THE DANG REALONE PLAYER! !! scuppernog (2387)

One thing I've noticed - you didn't say you've run spyware checks - aren't you using any anti-spyware?!

94336 2006-04-12 23:00:00 Just out of interest, why would anybody be trolling the PF1 archives like that anyway? I can't imagine that they would register especially to answer one ancient (in computer terms) question.

Cheers

Blame Google & other search engines here.
