| 94294 | 2002-10-29 17:40:00 | I recently got the second piece of spam in my life - I wouldn't have worried, but it was full of porn links and abusive language. I'm looking for a spam program that suites me. I have these ridiculous requirements: 1. I want to be able to look at my mail at the server before I download it, so I can whitelist and blacklist emails before I download them. 2. Preferably, something that works with Outlook Express. 3. Here's the tough one - something free! Also, why is <blink></blink> so dreaded? I tryed it in IE6 and nothing happened. |

Well, haven't you sat reading a page for a decent amount of time with all those things blinking, winking and flashing at you, doing their utter best to drive you to distraction? Well I have and I HATE the damn things!! It's OK on a page that isn't meant to be read but if people seriously want their stuff read they ought to think twice about abusing their visitors with such nuisances. |

You can create rules in Outlook Express which in short is, Where the Sender is>Delete from Server but it does get a little tiresome. A better way would be a spam busting program and since we all like something which is free......I assume you also like something that is free...and I won't ask for your credit card as proof that you do get spam, again I stray, Knock knock anyone home.. www.mailwasher.net/ follow the above link and download a freebie program designed by a kiwi. Very simple to install, it is free, no expire date. Basically once installed and it knows your pop/smtp/log in and password, use this instead of outlook to check your mail. It will give you a list of what mail is on the server and you can delete, bounce (return to sender) and allow it to download. You can create friends and blacklist lists within the program. To prevent Outlook from checking for mail just go into Outlook and remove the tick from Tools>Options>Chevck for mail every ? minutes. By using Mailwasher you can see the mail and once you have decided what you want to download, click process mail and it automatically opens OE. If OE is already open in the background just click process mail and that takes you to OE and you just click send/receive. It also alerts you to any mail it detects on the server while you are on the net else where with a chime and a small icon. Enjoy. |
