| 94248 | 2002-10-29 08:54:00 | Currently I have 3 PCs connected to a server to access internet using Internet Connection Sharing. I have firewall on all of the machines and was told that only the machine which is directly connected to internet will get attacked but not the others. Does it mean hackers can't touch my other PCs (even without firewall)except the server? Recently on my other PC I received an alert saying that a machine with IP 128.xxx.xxx.xxx has sent an invalid TCP flag and was blocked .. so people can still get to PCs which is not directly connected to internet ? |

No, it doesn't mean that. What it means is that all attacks will occur through the gateway machine (the one connected to the net), so you install your firewall there guarding the internet connection, and that will operate as a firewall for all computers to the internet. Without the firewall all three computers can be touched. HTH Mike. |
