94809 2002-10-31 08:09:00 Click on Tools>Internet Options and select the security tab.

Click on the custom Level button and scroll down to Java Permissions.

You should tick the "High Safety" radio button.

94810 2002-10-31 08:18:00 Thanks
I should have mentioned I'm running XP prof if this makes any difference. I did what u said and when I scrolled down I didn't see any 'java preferences' only 'scripting java appelets' which was already enabled.

94811 2002-10-31 08:23:00 A few entries above that - only just below the top - Should be Microsoft VM followed by Java Permissions.

If it is not there, you may have to install the VM update for XP from the Windows update website.

Let me know if it definitely isn't there and I can help you get the right update

94813 2002-10-31 08:36:00 OK, have you installed all of the XP updates? Have you installed XP SP1?? If not, you probably should for the scurity and smooth running of your system, but to simply get the Java update, you can either download a third-party VM from Sun, or get the Microsoft one from Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/)

Go throught the update process and make sure you download the patch indicated in this (support.microsoft.com) KB article.

Let me know how you get on

94814 2002-10-31 08:50:00 You are better off getting Sun's JVM as the MS one is old hat. mikebartnz (21)
94815 2002-10-31 09:21:00 I myself use Sun's VM. You can get it here (java.sun.com)

Either go through the manual process, or just click the "click here" link.
