| 94614 | 2002-10-30 07:57:00 | I have RH8 Psyche (Again... You guys must be getting bored of hearing that) I cant get the Comp to get on the network. Checking under Network Configuration (Using KDE), I cant find anything under the Hardware Tab. I have a D-Link DE-220. otherwise, I had (Before switching and putting this one in, a 3Com EtherLink III card. Both ISA, with the 3Com being 10Mbps and the Dlink being 10/100. I also have one or two really old SN200 Compatible cards (What 98 picked them up as) in the garage. I cant figure out what to do. It should just use DHCP AFAIK and Auto Assign an IP, just like the other 3 PC's on the network do. I can ping localhost, but not 192.168.0.1 Is there like a great big compatibilty list, like what MS has, only for Linux? Thanks Chilling_Silence |

I know the card is being initalized coz as soon as the PC is turned on, the Light comes on in the hub for that cable (Which was working fine in 2K before the nuke and install of redhat). What would be the best place to start, to figure out how to get it to go. I tried a couple of linux sites, but got thoroughly lost in them trying to source some relevant information on the subject. By the sound of it you will need to use the ne driver module telling it also which port number and irq to use. You might be able to run a diagnostic program on floppy that came with the D-link card to see/change these current values (or it might even use jumpers on the card itself). The best documents are probably at: www.ibiblio.org Have a good look at the module configuration section... |
