94920 2002-11-02 07:33:00 Hi Susan
Don't your kids know anything about respect for their parents. Can't you just send them to bed early?
Well if that doesn't work, at least XP is an awful lot more forgiving than 98. It does have system restore too. Partitioning for each kid does seem to be a way of giving them some independence. Threaten to delete ANYTHING they install that's not on their partition. XP is really easy to re-install.

94921 2002-11-03 05:01:00 LOL thats funny. I remember when I first started visiting PF1 a couple of years ago, Susan answered a question from a contributor regarding "NetNanny" type software by saying the contributors best solution was to disciplne her kids and teach them not to visit forbidden sites by removing access to the PC if they broke the rules. A similar answer was given to a gent who wanted to disab;e the keyboard so his two year old could bash the keys without mucking up his settings.

A bit of the old "switcherooo!"

94922 2002-11-03 09:31:00 Watch it Graham - get out of my cupboard! :D

Did I say that the kids were actually banned from downloading and installing stuff at that stage??

No . But they are now!! :D

Seriously though, I'm more concerned with all those tempting invitations from the likes of MSN announcing that "a new, better version has just come out, click here to download and install" and they do it without thinking . Most of the time I get asked if it's OK but it will be nice to have that backup for when they forget .

94923 2002-11-03 09:32:00 hmmmm I remember that as well Graham. :)

I also vaguely remember Susan asking questions about that type of software.
