| 94626 | 2002-10-30 09:24:00 | I'm looking for a good, reliable, quiet but inexpensive hard disk drive. Disk capacity: 30 - 40 G. I'm currently using a 17 G Seagate 5400 rpm drive. It is pretty good but I find it a bit too noisy. My friend's machine is using a 30 G Maxtor, 5400 rpm which is pretty quiet. His machine is just over a week old, therefore, we don't know how reliable it is. Recommendations, please. Cheers bk |

Personally I have a Seagate Barracude 7200 drive. Installed for well over a year with no problems, and it's pretty quiet. It's worth bearing in mind that drive noise can often be lowered by tightening the screws which hold it in place in the case housing. Check out http://pricespy.co.nz/ for current prices in NZ |
