95316 2002-11-02 00:27:00 I am about to purchase a new mouse...my intelli mouse explorer has left us (R.I.P) so I was wondering what your thoughts were on cordless mice...what experiences have you had...do they use too many batteries... etc,etc...your feed back would be much appreciated.
regards,

95317 2002-11-02 00:36:00 Cordless optical or cordless ball? I'm guessing cordless optical.
I'm not too sure how many batteries they would go through (It kind of depends on battery and mouse brands/quality) but rechargeable's are a great thing, it may seem more expensive at the start but they pay themselves off over time. Make sure you get 2 though so you have one to put in when the other runs out.

95318 2002-11-02 03:32:00 Corless Optical go thru 2x as many batteries in my experience. I bought a cordless Logitech mouse about 3 months ago, and it gets used for about 2 hours + a day! It's still about 1/4 charged, so I have some new batteries just in case.
Supposedly MS have released a mouse not too long ago and it works fine for long periods of time, it's optical too.

95319 2002-11-02 05:26:00 Hi ruup,

I use the MS Intellipoint cordless mouse and find it excellent . Yes, it does chew through the batteries (1 set per month, on average), but with re-chargeable batteries that shouldn't be too much of a bother .

Much less of a bother in fact than I found having cords getting in my way all the time . . .

Hope this helps .

95320 2002-11-02 05:29:00 oh, yeah, one other thing. The MS Intellipoint cordless mouse has no roller-ball - just the optical thingie (have no idea of the technical term!). This means no cleaning the mouse-ball every couple of months, and no problems with slower speeds (unless the batteries are almost on empty).

95321 2002-11-02 05:55:00 I've been using a Logitech cordless mouse every day at work for 18 - 24 months now, and I'm only on my 3rd set of batteries. It is heavily used for 8 hours a day.

Cheers
