95145 2002-11-01 09:25:00 The one in tweake's post is DVD Region Free, and it's just a program that you need open while you run your DVD player - it doesn't flash your drive at all. It works similar to Region Killer (which is what I use), but I think DVD Region Free might cost, I'm not sure.

95147 2002-11-01 09:27:00 To flash your drive you actually have to go and download a flash utility and a flash rom, shut down into DOS and flash your hardware. It is a conscious decision, and not anything that'll just happen.

None of these utilities here will flash your drive, they just tell the computer that your drive hasnt' been region locked yet. Perfectly safe - they're just programs.

95148 2002-11-01 09:28:00 perfectly safe and will region free ur dvd? csinclair83 (200)
95149 2002-11-01 09:33:00 Windows 2000/XP: Do not use player software that uses an ASPI driver - RegionKiller 2 will not work. We recommend the latest versions of Cinemaster, ELSA, ATI or Power DVD

does that mean i gotta have the latest power dvd program to work with the region killer? coz i got powerdvd4 on winxphome..

95150 2002-11-01 09:34:00 >>> perfectly safe and will region free ur dvd?

No, it will not region free you DVD :) it will tell your computer that it's region free when it's not... but it won't change your drive at all, so that if you try to play a DVD without the region free program running, your drive will be locked.

Hope this makes sense.

95151 2002-11-01 09:36:00 PowerDVD 4 is the latest version :D

and RegionKiller works fine with PDVD4 on Win XP (that's what I'm running)
