95139 2002-11-01 08:55:00 Hi all
This has just started happening over the last week or so - when i am closing i.e and logging off i get that annoying message:
iexplore.exe ending program please wait.....or end now etc....

At this stage it is the only thing i have had open,(i tried some different scenarios) any ideas on common causes for this??? It isn't a big deal i know, but i don't like it when things do this, it bugs me and it never did it before. I haven't added any new programs or anything like that either.
Any ideas appreciated :-)
Using Win XP with sp1 & IE 6 that came preinstalled with it.

I would suggest load latest service pack and see if it helps.
Not sure if uninstall and reinstall would do the job.

IE6's SP is included with XP SP1, so it'll already be installed (to save the hassle of a large download).

Thanks Robo, no I haven't changed anything recently apart from viewing the status bar in all windows a month or so back and I changed that back just in case, but it didn't start immediately after i did that anyway.

As Mike said I have the latest I.E service pack as it was in the XP sp1.

I was hoping to avoid an uninstall and reinstall because of that (sp)and any repercussions that may arise (due to the way xp integrates I.E, I read that somewhere awhile back). If as a final resort i have to uninstall and reinstall how do i go about it? As I have never done it with I.E ? And can anybody tell me of any probs it may cause i.e will i loose everthing like Favourites and Links etc...

Is this how i would uninstall it and reinstall?
Do i go to add/remove programs - add/remove windows component - then use the wizard?
But will i need to download it again once i have removed it from there or do i just go back into there and it will still be there to add again after i have removed it??? and what about the I.E service pack will i need to download that again too or will it still be on my system because it was part of sp1???

Any last ideas greatly appreciated :-( before i decide if i want to go down that road (uninstall) and possibly open a can of worms knowing my luck?

One last thing i wondered if it was happening after being thrashed for a few hours but this morning i tried checking in here then turning off and it happened then, after 5 mins of use.
Help please :_|
