94967 2002-10-31 22:27:00 Would anyone know why my computer would not recognise my printer, after successfully installing it. At some time after I install it, I'm assuming its when I turn my compuer off, which is not very often, that the computer stops recognising it and won't let me print. The Device Manager says it doesn't recognise the device.
Its an HP 656c, USB,XP.

thanks.

94969 2002-10-31 23:14:00 My neighbour bought an XP machine complete with printer and scanner . When it was delivered they forgot to bring a second USB lead with them . There was also some delayed software outstanding so it was set up for both and left to work .

A few days later I bought some stuff off the same firm and was asked if I'd like a discount off my purchase price if I went and put this lead in place and installed the software .

So I went over, added the lead - no scanner! It turns out XP is "intellegent", it hides things that it thinks you no longer need . The drivers are still there but hidden and disabled . (Oh how I love Windows!)

Can't remember the exact steps to fix it but it involves Control Panel .
