| 95479 | 2002-11-02 09:26:00 | There is always the possibility that you have damaged the file system, before you make it worse, reflect on how badly you need the data. If it really is needed badly, it will cost, but you need to take the drive to an expert recovery organisation. If its needed reasonably badly, but not life threatening (yours) you could buy a new HDD, install your windows XP on it and run it as your main drive. Install the Maxtor as the slave and try a few utilities on it. In a calm environment. I have had 2 Maxtors die in the last year (both 40 GB HDDs) so know the value of backups, or quite simply I would be out of business... |
