95551 2002-11-02 22:09:00 Hi, we're a rural primary school.

We're running Windows 2000. One of our computers has stopped showing the image previews when its in the thumbnail view. It just shows the icon of the file type its associated with. (the same way it displays word or excell files). We think it started when we installed an evaluation paint shop pro. Have uninstalled paint shop and it didn't fix it. I think its stuffed something up in the registry. Anyone know how to fix it?!?!?! Thanks.

95552 2002-11-02 23:11:00 I read your previous post, but havent had the time to research.

You have caused this by installing another program, and then uninstalling it without first re-associating the file types I would imagine..

This can cause the registry keys to be lost or corrupted and will prevent thumbnail previews.

Have you looked on Google for your answer?
I had a quick look and found this (home.satx.rr.com)
Scroll down to the section describing your problem

I am not sure if it is Windows 2000 compatable, so USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

95553 2002-11-03 07:31:00 Thanks for the pointer, there was a email link at the top of the page so I've sent an email to ask if its compatible with windows 2000. Hopefully I'll get the Okay soon then I'll apply it, and all will be well!! tarrangower (2382)
95554 2002-11-03 07:41:00 But the e-mail link is only for comments about the website.

"Please limit e-mail to comments or questions about the web site. If you need technical support, visit the Microsoft newsgroups where you can get a response from me if I know the answer and possibly responses from several other people."

I doubt that you will therefore get any response.

There are 12,000 responses on Google, one is bound to have your answer

95555 2002-11-03 20:43:00 I was lucky enough to get a response:

"I don't use or support W2K; however, this particular .reg fix does work
on a W2K registry."

I'll give it a go as soon as I get back into the school and I'll let ya know how it went.
