| 95365 | 2002-11-02 03:52:00 | During the last couple of months I have twice experienced problems with my monitor (PC Direct) coming out of Standy By mode. Usually with a simple move of the mouse it reverts to normal mode without problem. Twice lately though it has refused to do so and leaves me with a continuing black(and blank) screen. My only solution so far has been to press the reset button on the computer and once the computer goes through it's restart, the monitor screen bursts into life. This is the only problem being experienced with the monitor which performs well in every other respect. Any clues as to what the problem is and how to rectify it would be appreciated. Thanks Smurf |

| 95368 | 2002-11-02 04:10:00 | Smurf, I have exactly the same problem. I purchased a new computer and monitor in August of this year - running Win XP Pro and monitor is a Philips 107E. On about four occasions now I have had to push the power button on the computer in order for the monitor to work. My settings are Turn Off Monitor - Never, System Standby - Never and Hibernate is not enabled. It will be interesting to see if others are experiencing the same problem and what the fix might be. |

| 95369 | 2002-11-02 04:13:00 | Godfather, I have tried your solution, but no go. The computer is still running but nothing from the monitor. I wondered if it had something to do with the switch box I have running two monitors, keyboard and mouse off it and two computers. Or maybe it is the screensaver that is killing it? |

| 95370 | 2002-11-02 04:19:00 | I have found on my system - W98se, ViewSonicE653 - that it is not a monitor problem. It happens very seldom, but I think it is the Comp not waking up from standby. Settings are standard - Standby 20' - monitor 15' & HD 30' Again, fixed by the magical reset button. Bye |

| 95371 | 2002-11-02 04:27:00 | If you have to reboot the computer I would suggest it is not the monitor staying in standby, its most likely that no video signals are arriving when the computer wakes up. Perhaps your video card is not resuming? | godfather (25) | ||

| 95373 | 2002-11-02 04:53:00 | More likely it is caused with a problem in the Graphics Address Relcation Table (GART) try updating video drivers. I too have experienced this problem. and it does seem to happen pretty randomly. Also have a look in your bios at the mode the monitor goes into when on standby. Changing this could possibly rectify the problem |
