2002-11-05 20:05:00 | Ok . . . . . I'm confused . I recentley downloaded some mp3's (yes they were legit) and burnt them to cd using nero burning rom . . . . Now for the questions: 1) How come when I add the tracks to be burnt, the cd is measured in minutes, instead of MB's? It was only about 37mb, but it filled up almost 3/4 of the cd . 2) I thought you needed an mp3 player to play mp3's? So how come my crappy old panasonic stereo can play mp3's that I have burnt, or are they converted to wavs during the burning process? (that would make sense . . . . . and answer my first question) 3) Have I just answered question 1 and 2 myself?

2002-11-05 20:17:00 | >>> 3) Have I just answered question 1 and 2 myself? Yes :) You've selected the option of burning an audio CD, so it'll be able to be played in most stereos. If you just wanted to burn them as files, then you need to tell nero to burn a data CD. Mike.

2002-11-05 20:25:00 | >>> 3) Have I just answered question 1 and 2 myself? Yes, you have!! :D 1) When you use Nero to select your MP3 tracks to burn to CD keep an eye on the bar at the bottom of the window as it indicates how much space you are using on the CD . That way you can fill it to maximum available . Nero automatically converts the MP3s to . wav files and calculates the space required by those . wav files because they are much larger than MP3s - about 10 times larger in fact . That's why "only" 37mb of MP3s fill a CD to 3/4 full . 2) Your crappy old panasonic stereo can play mp3's that you have burnt because they converted to . wav files during the burning process . Not all older steroes can play them but so far all of mine have, possibly because I burn them at the slowest my CD writer will do it - at 8x . Sometimes the old saying "the faster you go, the bigger the mess" applies to burning music CDs . If you want to get heaps of songs onto a CD you can just drag and drop the MP3 files using InCD but it's likely that only your computer (or an MP3 player) will be able to play them .

This is what you have done, hence it can be played on any stereo, just like any other CD. (and you get around 72 minute of audio) 2. Transfer the MP3's as files. This scenario will let you copy 650MB of MP3's (hence you can fit many more minutes onto a CD) however it must be used in a device that can read MP3's such as some DVD players, your computer and even some expensive portable CD players |

2002-11-05 23:10:00 | Thanks.....it's all so clear now. Now for my next interesting questions: 1) Anyone know of a good (good = cheap+quality...lol) mp3 player? 2) Do you people not do any work during the day?....lol.....just jokes.

2002-11-05 23:36:00 | Mp3 player as in software? or a device that plays MP3s? Software = winamp is regarded as the best basic MP3 player. It is free also. If you want a more advanced player you need to get a "jukebox" I prefer mediajukebox by J River There are so many out there its just a matter of finding one that suits you. As for devices. Once again just find one that suits your needs, Decide how much music you want to carry and then get one. Personally i use a Sony NetMD. Suppose its not the exact definition of an Mp3 device, but pretty similar

2002-11-06 01:43:00 | You can get MP3 CD-Players from DSE that play CD's with MP3's burnt as Files on them.. not as audio. It'll cost you about $200! | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2002-11-06 03:07:00 | You could test your luck and try winning an MP3 Player from the www.music2.tv (M2) website. My girl just won herself the 8 Foot Sativa Album and she only signed up like last week. I'm now all envious because of this as I've been trying for a long time to win something. Com'on MP3 Player... Com'on MP3 Player... I've won a CD case from PCWORLD because of helping out here at PressF1... Now I must have some luck right?
