2002-11-05 09:20:00 | hey all, I'm after an mp3 player with a customizable playlist and general buttons (play, stop, next track etc). Something similar to Winamp but for a computer at the lower end of the spectrum... any suggestions would be sweet thankies Tones Malones

2002-11-05 09:25:00 | doesn't MS Windows Media PLayer do that? :D or try MD (Media Detonator) i think i got it from tucows or somewhere like that. but it had a trojan in it a while ago, so be cautioned. | vk_dre (195) | |
2002-11-05 09:28:00 | doze? linux? If it's doze, i'd go with winamp.... it even runs OK on my slug, but you will probably need an older version as the newer ones seem a little too slick and demanding. winamp 3 proved a waiste of time on my 450meg machine. I have some older versions here if you need them. .Clueless

2002-11-05 09:53:00 | There's not much lighter than Winamp (lite install) ... Windows Media Player et al, are system hogs... Lo.

2002-11-05 10:09:00 | try the latest Zoomplayer RC2. it fairly light weight now. Download Zoom Player 2.90 RC2 (www.inmatrix.com)

2002-11-05 10:18:00 | Another vote for Winamp. If you get either version except the lite version, it will also play files encoded using the superior Ogg Vorbis format. | segfault (655) | |
2002-11-05 10:24:00 | There is WinPlay3 which I used on my 486. Its very lightweight, but I think its playlist wasn't great. | bmason (508) | |
2002-11-05 12:03:00 | Hi... Try "Whisset' (From www.webattack.com), which loads quickly, and you can create a playlist via two tables. Skins can also be downloaded... For a player and multi-titled playlist program (ie. by Artist, Year, A-Z' s, Genre, Mood type, conversions to WMA, WAV, Database access, etc..), and can add Winamp and/or skins, try Songs-DB also from webattack. I use this and is pretty good...even for the basic version... Cheers..

2002-11-05 23:08:00 | Yeah, I use Winamp 2.78c on a P-120 with 16Mb, Win98se with no probs. | antmannz (28) | |
| 96205 | 2002-11-06 00:15:00 | There's some stuff called SoriTong I got it to work on a 486DX50Mhz. Quality wasnt the best.. It was running Win98SE with 24MB RAM. Anything less and you'll have troubles getting MP3's decoded in time. Anyways, do a search on google for it. It's origionally in some aisian language, but it translates and works fine for me on the older m/c's! You can beat WinAmp 2.81 if you've got a Pentium m/c, otherwise, It's too much of a dog... WinAmp 3, You'll need at least a 500Mhz with 64MB RAM if you're not running a NT based system and you plan to be playing ONLY MP3's and nothing else. WinAmp3 is good for playing Video's also, but you'd wanna go higher and have a 733Mhz with 128MB RAM really.... So, Check out SoriTong and let me know what you think. It's skinnable too!
