96117 2002-11-06 10:00:00 Another thing I just thought of was, if you send a funny email to someone who on-fwds it, your email addy can be visible.

Same with those rediculous "Bill Gates will send you a $100 for every email you on-fwd. They would be excellent addy fodder for spammers.

Thats if spammers have programs to capture address' from emails that is

96119 2002-11-06 21:44:00 Lately I have got so sick of spam that I have started doing the following. I track the mailserver thats sending the spam then I send the company resposible for the mailserver the following message.

"I have the address of your mailserver. I live in New Zealand where we have no hacker laws yet. If I recieve another piece of spam from your server I will knock it offline and keep it offline till I get taken off your spam list"

Surprisingly this works quite often

96120 2002-11-06 21:51:00 Well, I dont generally get much spam, maybe one a month, and im serious, but yesterday I got one virus email to my hotmail nbox, and then checking it this morning, i had 2 waiting, and while I've been online (Maybe an hour) I've received 7 more... and Its happened before, I was getting about 2 an hour of the w32.yaha@mm or somthing like that, and so i ditched that mail account, asking abuse@hotmail what could be done and they said nothing could be done.

Some help they were. At least I had a person reply, and look over my mail message and not a bot, which was of little comfort though. damn viruses.... get an antiviral solution and update once in a while, that virus was first found about the 15th june this year, c'mon, it wouldnt kill ya to update once every 3 months even/!?!?!?!

96121 2002-11-06 23:25:00 i used to get over 150 emails a day, and all spam... blocked up my old email account with hotmail so i created another account and asked the people i trusted with my address to use only that one... and to send emails to me using bcc... works quite well.
i have another account which i recieve all my other newsletters and pressf1 notifications. anything i dont want to get, i put the domain name of the address in my junk mail filter, gets rid of all the emails from one domain which is good for multiple spamming campaigns from the same domain :D

96122 2002-11-07 00:13:00 I agree... A hotmail addy for use ase a spam address is quite a good idea if you ask me! I've got one myself, its worked for about the past 6-7 (As long as Ive had it) but now there's viruses coming to my main one... I'm just blocking them all! Chilling_Silence (9)
