96129 2002-11-05 06:01:00 Hi All,
I'm trying to set up a VPN remote access from a W9x PC to a corporate LAN. The PC is Jetstream enabled and doesn't have a modem installed. The DUN wizard asks for a modem then objects to not finding one! Surely there is a way to use the DSL connection to access the remote site? Any help would be appreciated.

96130 2002-11-05 06:23:00 What have you got set up at the other end? An MS VPN server? You will need to set up a PPTP connection from the 9x box (this will require add/remove windows components and the DUN v1.3 update). You will need to use a fully service packed NT4 server or Win 2K server to answer at the other end. If the corporate end is Firewalled (likely) then you will need to map the appropriate port/protocol through to the Internal VPN server. The port is 1723/tcp and protocol 47 (GRE). Configure your server to only accept CHAP2 authentication, as CHAP1 has exploits available for it.

I suggest you look into buying a 3rd party IPSEC VPN solution if you have the money.

96132 2002-11-06 00:58:00 Hi,
At the corporate end is a W2K server with ISA server installed and sitting behind a DSL router. The VPN wizard has been run. Will DUN 1.3 still ask me for a modem?

No modem, but the PC is connected to the Internet permanently via an ADSL router.
