96674 2002-11-07 03:34:00 Hi,
I have 2 PC's networked.
Both of them are running WIN98se.
I have installed 'net sharing on them, and now, the Host PC (one with net connection) whenever it boots up - the PC USUALLY freezes - if it doesn't here, whenever i connect to the net, when it comes up "verifying username and password" it freezes there.
Sometimes, however, it works - though this is quite rare.
Also, sometime i'm just doing stuff (playing game, writing letter ect) and teh PC freezes.

If I disconet the network cable from my PC, none of the above happens.

I can share files, play multiplayer games etc, over network with no problems.
none of the PC's have firewalls (they did, but i thought they were the problem, so i got rid of them)
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks

96675 2002-11-07 03:59:00 Sharing should be installed on only one of them. The other is a client. It looks as if it's trying to connect whenever you boot up. Try stopping that. Otherwise, I'd remove sharing, network, etc and reinstall on both. You've managed to get something "wrong", and reinstalling will be easier than trying to find out what. Put the firewall back after you get it all going again. Graham L (2)
96676 2002-11-07 08:35:00 It may pay to re-install your ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). Are you using ICS, by the way?

Install ICS only on one computer as the 'host' and the other as a 'client'

96677 2002-11-07 18:20:00 yeah - i did only install it on the one PC (host), but it says to put a floppy disk in during installation - then put tht disk into the client PC and install it on there? do i do this?
i'm not using it at the moment - to many hassels, but i want to use it soon.
cheers
