Floppy disks can be unreliable etc. You will note that Microsoft displays in writing on their CD's "Please do not make illegal copies of this disk." This would seem to suggest that there is such a thing as a legal copy. IMHO (I am not a lawyer) you can make a backup FOR YOUR OWN USE. If you make a copy and give/sell it to someone else then that is definitely a No_No as it were. What I actually do is to go and buy the software in the first instance. When I get it home I make a copy. I install off the copy and keep the original elsewhere. When my copy gets damaged (as happens) I get the original back and make another copy. Microsoft in Auckland, will in fact, give you another copy of software free if the original is damaged if you have proof of purchase etc. I know this as I had to get a copy once B4 I had a cdWriter. Just that it took two weeks for me to get a replacement and I couldn't use the software in the meantime. |
