| 96462 | 2002-11-06 04:04:00 | I want to try Knoppix on the Oct CD. I am unfamiliar with the Bios setup. In the Bios it reads "Boot Sequence A, C," My CD Rom is on E drive. Do I merely change the Boot Sequence to read "Boot Sequence E" to allow it to boot from the CD Rom?. I presume I will be able to get back to the Bios to change back again?. Any help for this newbee will be appreciated. Pato |

| 96463 | 2002-11-06 04:15:00 | Don't think u can change to Bott Sequence E .. try look for a settings that have the CDROM, A, C or CDROM, C, A, or CDROM, C, SCSI ...etc. Make sure the CDROM is in the first place :) | mashimaro (2168) | ||

You might be able to set the BIOS so that no OS can load, but even that is repairable. :D. You just go into the setup again and change it back. ;-) Try selecting the "A, C" boot order, and cyling through the alternate options. If one says "CD ROM, C, A", or something similar, or even "E, A, C" in your case, Save and Exit. If you are worried, read the documentation on the CD (and the article in PC World), then use the RAWRITE programme to make a boot floppy. That will let you leave your BIOS alone. It's not difficult, and it is "safe" . |

I know others have posted on this but I was staggered at how simple it all was !!! M$ could well learn from this ease of installation and simplicity (it won't).. BG had been start his tranqillisers now, I think Linux in some form or another will make an impact in the not too distant future. Crunn |
