| 96688 | 2002-11-07 03:53:00 | Jetstart gets connected Friday. The modem will arrive on Friday too. The network is running smoothly - I hope that continues and all 3 PCs are A OK. I'm going to use xtra as my ISP. I can have 5 email addresses, my understanding of this is that all addresses go to the same pop mailbox regardless of the alias. What I want to know is if there is software that can route these emails to different mailboxes once they arrive on my PC - I guess what I want is a mini mail server. But I want it to be easier than easy. I don't want to have to learn all about servers just to sort the mail. |

| 96689 | 2002-11-07 04:04:00 | If you set up all addresses in the one mail program they will all be downloaded into the one inbox If the email accounts are not just an alias and they have their own account name and password you can set up a new identity for each in your mail program. |

Want I'm after is either an outlook / outlook express plug-in or another email program that will allow me to sort these different alias' to different people. We could of course set up several free POP addresses but I'd rather use the ones with Xtra for is I can sort them at this end. |

| 96693 | 2002-11-09 00:46:00 | The way I see it, if each machine has it's own email account (ie: username@xtra.co.nz for example), its own password to that email account, and it's own email program, there should be no reason why each cannot check just their own email and no-one elses. | 96694 | 2002-11-09 01:58:00 | Xtra will supply additional mailboxes at $2.50 ea (+GST) per month. This could be the simplest way, if you don't want your own mail server. Another (slightly messy way) would be to receive all your mail into OE, and use rules to forward mail for 'others' to your 'free POP accounts'. |

I have a domain name and 5 email addresses with ihug. My addresses are setup as follows: NAME: ALIAS loginname (default) loginname1 Heather loginname2 Axx loginname3 Jxx loginname4 Txx If something comes into a name that isn't listed - George for example - it goes to the default account. So.... 1 computer has been set up to check the default, me and Txx Another computer to check Jxx and a third to check Axx In OE go to Tools, Accounts, Add In the General Tab - set the Email account to the Alias (Axx@whatever.co.nz) and in the Servers Tab - set the account name to the name itself (loginname2) with the appropriate password |

| 96697 | 2002-11-09 09:53:00 | Messy is an understatement, I can see all sorts of problems with a setup like this, one will be getting free email addresses to work in a pop mail program. You would not want to use a web based system. Why set up mail rules to a free address, you might as well just use the free address full stop. You have gone to the trouble of getting a fast connection, and have networked computers why not do the logical thing and get a proper email address for each user so you can have an efficient and trouble free email system which can be used with a regular mail program. |
