| 96805 | 2002-11-07 08:23:00 | Can Window 3.11 be networked? I've got a box running Windows 3.11; can it be connected to a Win2K server? |

| 96806 | 2002-11-07 08:55:00 | It has been a while since I have seen Win 3.11 networked but I can't see why you can't network it with a Win 2k machine. I am assuming you have Win 3.11 for Workgroups. It should have networking protocols with it. Also if I remember right, you might need drivers for your network card. I know it can be networked with Win 95 machines in peer to peer. Just make sure you use the same protocols. Also the network card in your Win 3.11 machine will most likely be a 10 meg card, so make sure the Win 2k machine network card is a 10/100 meg card. Best of luck. |

| 96807 | 2002-11-07 09:38:00 | A while back we had a win 3.11 computer networked to win 98. I don't think we could access the net through it, but that could mean that I didn't do it, not that it can't be done (it's been a while so can't remember). I think I used the NetBuie protocol rather than TCP/IP. Suggest you set it up with NetBuie (on both machines) to get the peer-to-peer bit working then see if TCP/IP can be installed. |

The network card drivers are there (on disk 8, I think) for most standard cards at the time of WFW311. It works well talking to Linux systems, so should have no trouble with the Intenet, except you won't run IE6.:D Try an early Netscape, or one of the DOS browsers. |
