| 96744 | 2002-11-07 06:01:00 | Hi people, PIII, 700mhz, running ME, 128 ram . Has been running fine for a year, but now I am getting errors on start up . 1 . Once or twice only - cannot auto detect primary master . 2 . Most start ups now - Sec Master Drive - ATAPI incompatible, press F1 to continue . Press F1, and continues to load, but no cd or cd writer loaded . 3 . Once, searching for boot, not found on C, not found on A floppy, please insert disk . Any ideas? The hard drive was new last xmas . Do I take the cover off and see if the wire thingees are still pushed in properly? Nobody has touched it physically, or through the keyboard . Thanks for any help . |

| 96745 | 2002-11-07 06:20:00 | Your trouble shooting idea is correct; -I'd suggest checking that the ribbon cable to the CD ROM/Writer drives is in securely at all three connectors. (drive 1, drive 2 and on the motherboard) One of the drives on that cable may be failing however, or possibly the secondary IDE controller on the motherboard. |
