| 96952 | 2002-11-10 21:26:00 | That would be a good idea if all coders could be bothered creating 3-4 versions of their sites. I'd just stick with IE compatibility! | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 96953 | 2002-11-11 00:20:00 | Bollocks. It would be a good idea if coders stopped making websites for a specific browser eg get rid of the scrollbar colours (not compliant). And while they are at it, they can stop making websites designed for a specific resoution! X-( Then maybe we will see browsers that work properly. All professional web designers know that the best websites are 1) compliant 2)don't use images for navigation 3)use correct ALT tags 4)NOT designed for a particular browser OR resolution SiK |

BUT it still would not display correctly in Netscape, and I have no idea why. But anyway, that's not the point of this thread :) I still don't get why Netscape (and the others) is considered to be mainstream browser when IE is used by 95% of ALL internet users world wide. | 96955 | 2002-11-11 04:39:00 | >get rid of the scrollbar colours ?:| but why, yes i read that it wasn't compliant, but so what in practice, any browser that can't do colored scrollbars, delivers standard grey scrollbars, and any browser that can read the script delivers scroll bars that fit perfectly into the design of the page..... As for compliancy, If Konquerer, the Linux browser, and IE can read scroll bars, then it shouldn't be too long before the others catch up. What i do think must be avoided is script that is critical to the layout that only one particular browser can read. I've just got back from the other side of the island, where the only computer i could get my claws on had only IE... What a horrible browser! Not only did it refuse to go back and forward a page with a simple mouse gesture, BUT every time a page had script it didn't like, it wanted to do some tedious de-bugging ritual! Stuff that for a bad joke! BTW ATT BRUCE... when i went to preview this post first time, the preveiw simply read "null" the same happened on the Coast when i showed my freind how to post a link in these pages. Hmmm... whats going on? (second time fine) .Clueless |

Since I have been running NS7 on Win2000 it has been rock solid. Loads pages faster than IE and the tabs are brilliant. I wonder how I got on without them. I also find the mail side of NS7 much better. A friend who has IE/Outlook at work and NS at home and is not very PC literate says he finds NS more logical. |

| 96959 | 2002-11-12 22:47:00 | Way back then (3 years ago) i had a network of 2 PC's, several flatemates, and numerous guests. The mail was handled by netscape mainly because it was really easy for people to understand, AND it was really easy to network the folders that contained each users mail and prefferances so that regulars could jump on either PC and get there mail etc. .. i mean really easy. I'd recomend it to anyone with limited knowledge and multiple users over a small network who want to acces mail throughout the system. .Clueless |
