| 97333 | 2002-11-09 03:20:00 | Hi I just brought a CD-RW and compelete formatted with InCD(part of nero's programme) . I was able to drag thing from folders and paste it into the CD writer drive, it writes to the CD-RW . But when I put the CD-RW into another computer CD drive (I tried on mine too) there were no files on it but the it shows the CD-RW it full, you know no MB left . First I thought I didn't do it probably or something, so I put the CD-RW back into the CD writer drive but there it was, all the files that I copyed to the CD-RW . So I was thinking, if this is not how you do things with a CD-RW then how do you do it (nero said I could use it like a big floppy disk)? I also tried nero to burn some stuff, on it but it tells me that InCD is using the CD writer drive . So if any one can help me, please do :) , thanks alot Thanks :) Jase Sen |

Any drive which is compliant with the MultiRead specification should be able to read both packet-written and CD-RW discs (or discs which are both). Some older CD recorders can read CD-RW discs even if they cannot write them. All recorders which can write CD-RW discs can, of course, also read them. If your software gives the option to close the session (so that the disk can be read in other drives) then do so. Some versions of software close the session automatically. An open session will probably not be readable by another CD ROM drive |

I'm personally not too wrapped with CDRW, as I lost a lot of Back ups I had on one. Better to use CDr's and not close until the disc is full - very much the same procedure - drag and drop in Nero - use Multisession mode. Bye |

| 97336 | 2002-11-09 03:40:00 | ok lets see........ CD's you write your self (writeable or re-writeable) should work in 99% of cd rom drives. some palce there is a setting to "close the session". if a session is not closed then you might find cd drives that wont read the disk. I sujest you read the book that came with you CD-writer and have another play. another point that springs to mind............ you say the CD showed 0Mb free but you dident say nowmany Mb was used. the problem might be that you never wrote anything to the disk. after you drag and drop the files over the the CD drive you will still have to click on "burn the dick" type button. |

| 97338 | 2002-11-09 03:45:00 | I have a CD drive that is about maybe almost 3 years which I tried with to see if it could read the CD-RW and I also tried it with a 2 months old CD drive on a new computer, which it could not read the CD-RW too . The problem is I can't use nero to burn anything, cause InCD is using the CD writer drive . . . So any suggestions :) Thanks alot for every ones idea and suggestions :) Jase Sen |

| 97339 | 2002-11-09 04:05:00 | Well, I had a bit of the same problem with older cdrom drives not reading a CD-RW, including a x20 drive that wasnt all that old. A new x52 replacement was able to read CD-RWs. However since I could only read them on my newer computer , it wasnt much use as a floppy to transfer files to my older one or to any other. You also have to have a UDF read driver installed on other computers too, it's all too much of a pain really. The other annoying problem was intermittent BSODs caused by INCD.vxd, so in the end I uninstalled INCD, as its only used for formatting, and now only use CD-R disks, as mentioned above by Peter H. |
