97161 2002-11-08 03:40:00 Hi every1

i have a machine with 2 hard drives installed - there is no OS installed, when i try and run startup disk a similair error to 'no device found, aborting installation no cd rom drivers selected', pops up .
i have tried with several different cd roms and get the same error every time.

I have also tried other IDE chains with no go. Sounds like something to do with BIOS or motherboard, any iseas .... ?

Thanks

97162 2002-11-08 03:51:00 As there is no OS installed, I assume you are booting with DOS floppy?

Do you have CD drivers on the floppy, if you don't then that's what you are being told at a guess.

97163 2002-11-08 03:56:00 Get into BIOS and change the system to BOOT from CD .. if you don't have a bootable CD then get a win98 or me startup floppy disk .. :D mashimaro (2168)
97164 2002-11-08 03:56:00 Can you explain exactly what your startup disk is? I'm not sure if you are using a boot floppy or bootable CD-ROM?

If it is a bootable CD then check that the bios is setup with the correct boot order.
Check the jumper of the cdrom drive is not using cable select but is set as a master (or slave)/
