2002-11-08 11:25:00 | Try viewing the page source, and the URL will show. Use your firewall to disable the Flash intro so that the page is static. | Greg S (201) | |
2002-11-08 11:30:00 | Notepad is the norm, however... NoteTab - the bestest! | Greg S (201) | |
2002-11-08 12:03:00 | all of you guys are wrong the url is embedded in the .swf, so it wont be visible in the page source code, and the url doesnt show in the status bar when u hover either. the 2nd best bet (and most easily achievable) is by opening the swf file in a text editor (notepad will do), and looking for a recognizable url. the BEST bet would be to use a .swf decompiler, they do exist, and i would send u one, but i dont have one on me at the moment, have a search on google or something, if i find one before you, ill give u a link grtz sal. tga

2002-11-08 12:27:00 | Hey - thanx for all the suggestions. I'm not wanting to see if the click-thru works, I wanting to see that the actual embedded URL being used is the correct one... therefore I need to be able to see the URL embedded in the SWF file - if I click on it, it'll definitely take me to a destination URL, but the actual URL used for the click-thru may be a 3rd party re-direct, and that's what I need to check ... so I'll try the text editor & if that doesn't work, I'll wait for my training. And no, I'm not hacking, cracking or doing anything illegal. This is part of my day-job... I need to check online ads to see if the advertisers have embedded the right click-commands and put the _blank code in to ensure the click-thru opens a new window and doesn't load inside the ad itself. Actually, just tried opening it in Notepad and it didn't work - just got gobbledeegook. Once again, thanx, but will see if I can find another way. Cheers The Sharkmeister

2002-11-08 12:34:00 | no, the hacking i was talking about isnt illegal, its set up at sites, to demonstrate the weaknesses of certain password protecting techniques (or just to make u feel like a l337 haXX0r :P) but yeah, im sure the url is visible through there, is it possible for you to post the swf up on the net, or even post the hobbblaah you got from opening it in a text editor. grtz sal. tga

2002-11-08 12:49:00 | sorry, Sal - no way to post it up short of copy/pasting into here . . . it doesn't have to be a specific SWF, I want to be able to check all SWF's that come in . . . Sonik had a good suggestion about using Flash, only I have no idea how to do what he suggested . . . Sonik? Enlighten me, please!! :D Cheers The Sharkmeister

2002-11-08 13:36:00 | >>sorry, Sal - no way to post it up short of copy/pasting into here . . . well then paste it :p ok, so with the import into flash, you initially need flash, the program, then u would go to file > import > and then look for the swf file, simple . huh ;), although it doesnt import the actionscripting, the part where the urls and stuff are coded in (or does it?, no i think it just imports frames) grtz sal . tga

I need to >>> check online ads to see if the advertisers have >>> embedded the right click-commands and put the _blank >>> code in to ensure the click-thru opens a new window >>> and doesn't load inside the ad itself. Usually with ads there are no links in the actual Flash, but the link is from the page the ad is displayed on, so that anywhere on the ad can be clicked, and the link will be activated. Mike. |
