| 97204 | 2002-11-08 06:42:00 | Evening All! If I want to view a .swf file to see if the embedded click-thru URL is correct, what do I do to check this? I have Dreamweaver 4 and Flash 5, but am a complete novice using both these programs. I have access to a manual, but given I don't have the faintest idea what to look up, I thought I'd try the experts! I won't have access to the original FLA files for the creative, but I want to check the click-thru URL and also that the code contains _blank, so that when the image is clicked on, it opens the click-thru in a new window. I have no intention of mucking around with the image (ie. changing it or copying it), but just need to check what the embedded URL is, and that when clicked on, it will open the destination page in a new window. Hopefully in a couple of months when I've had my Flash & Dreamweaver training, I'll laugh at this post, but right now, I'm as clueless as a clueless thing! :8} Any help, as always, very much appreciated! | 97210 | 2002-11-08 09:16:00 | Sharkey, If Sal's idea doesn't work (I've never tried using a text editor LOL) then you may be out of luck, unless you can find a program that can reverse-engineer a SWF file (I looked for one a short while ago, but never found anything remotely close). Typically you create the FLA file how you want it, then compile it to the SWF. If the SWF doesn't work right, then you just fix the FLA then recompile, you can't edit the SWF file. Mike. |

| 97211 | 2002-11-08 09:25:00 | I've just had a play with something I made a few months back. The cursor turned into a hand, opened the link when clicked but didn't show the file in the status bar. Original suggestion stands. Open it in IE and try it. |

| 97212 | 2002-11-08 10:38:00 | You should be able to 'decompile' the swf by importing into flash. The URL will either be in the properties of an object (eg text) or in the actionscript. This of course unless it is password protected, in which case Heather's suggestioon still stands. :D SiK |
