| 97698 | 2002-11-11 01:39:00 | HI all, I've tu-tued with a heap of back up programs in the past but none has done what I want in the simplest way. What I want to do is backup my small home network using a program that does incremental backups but does *not* use a native or other compression format to do it in. I'm not worried about saving space, and I do want instant access to the backed up files, so I'm only wanting a program that will simply copy files from one drive to another, but will not copy files that already exist (unless they are older). Does anyone know of such software? I would have thought it would be simple to find something but I'm still searching... Thanks for any help. |

CD's only take about 3 mins to burn nowdays, with the latest writers, i heard its getting closer to 2 mins for a burn. Especially if you've saved the "To Burn" file or whatever it is called (What you want burnt to the CD... That... saved to a file...). How much are you hoping to back up anyways and how often? |

You need to alter lines 2 and 3 (starting with "Backup") to match your drives/folders. You can add additional or remove surplus. I ' m sure you can see the format required: Backup "original folder", "backup folder" ' Run folder-recursive backup Backup "c:\the original folder", "\\network drive\the backup folder" Backup "c:\another folder", "\\network drive\another backup folder" ' ============================================== Sub BackUp(whereFrom, whereTo) ' ====================================== ' === duplicates folder structure and creates backup ' === copies of files specified using the whereFrom ' === argument ' ====================================== Dim drfoFrom, drfoTo, drfosubFrom ' copy backup folder structure Set drfoFrom = fs.GetFolder(whereFrom) Set drfoTo = fs.CreateFolder(whereTo & "\" & drfoFrom.Name) ' === Process files in current folder === ' only copy changed files and clear archive attribute On Error Resume Next For Each fi In drfoFrom.Files If fi.Attributes And 32 Then fi.Copy drfoTo.Path & "\" fi.Attributes = fi.Attributes - 32 End If Next On Error GoTo 0 ' === Process all subdirectories and do the same thing === Set drfosubFrom = drfoFrom.SubFolders ' recurse through each subfolder For Each drfosub In drfosubFrom Backup drfosub.Path & "\" , drfoTo.Path Next ' release resources Set drfosubFrom = Nothing Set drfoTo = Nothing Set drfoFrom = Nothing End Sub |
