When there are many pictures, or big pictures, on a page, I want the punters to be able to read the text while the pix come down, to whet their appetites and keep them there. | 97444 | 2002-11-09 12:07:00 | I have made a few pages with text and pic's on them, and the text just appears first - don't ask me how or why. I was using "homepages.paradise" as the server, and uploaded the data with cuteFTP.:) The pic's were jpg's with a link to the page pic_name.jpg Just have a go, and if it doesn't load how you want, then please reply:) rads:) |

If the graphics tags come before the text in the page then the browser often deals with them first, but if you have a decent amount of text before your (large) graphics then the text seems to be loaded first. I could be wrong, but that's how I've experienced it. |

| 97446 | 2002-11-09 22:07:00 | Make sure your text (if poss) is not inside a table; or if you must use tables for formatting, use several isolated tables (not nested). Reason being, the table contents have to be determined before anything is displayed, and so can delay the text display. If you use a series of sequential tables, the first will load and display (giving the viewer something to view), while the rest are rendered. |

| 97447 | 2002-11-10 03:27:00 | Hi Hugh7777, I have always been led to believe that by puting all your pic sizes, ie;w=?h=?border=? in pixels,these "Boxes"(for a better name!) will load at same time or order as your Text,and fill-in last. Seems to work OK on my Web-site! here (http://www.suttons.orcon.net.nz) My pics are in tables with relevent text.but all the text on page seems to load before the ist pic? Cheers,Kiwitas,;-) |
