1320295 2013-01-13 23:06:00 per your advise earlier, I did post a formal complaint last week (Monday?) kingdragonfly (309)
1320296 2013-01-13 23:10:00 Orcon merging with Kordia should improve their after hours and business support/services but not sure how much difference that will make to residential customers.

I guess this means residential fibre has no SLA's but is best-effort (the same as ADSL at the moment)?

Didn't they ship all their residential support off shore after the merger..??

1320298 2013-01-14 00:13:00 Shipped residential support to Manilla in the Philippines pre-merger...

Right now their business support has been pretty decent (I deal with them through work a fair bit), but their network overall seems to be what lets them down from a business perspective more than their corporate support.

1320299 2013-01-15 18:59:00 Yippee!

After 22 days down, I'm finally up.

Apparently it was a patch to some Alcatel fiber equipment. Only when Chorus got a specialist Alcatel team involved, was there movement forward

Anyhow thanks for all the help, in particular Chilling_Silence.

:thanks

1320300 2013-01-15 20:20:00 so no compensation? nedkelly (9059)
1320301 2013-01-15 21:19:00 Bet you're glad to be back. Will you still stick with them after the whole ordeal? 22 days is *terrible* for being completely down :-/ Chilling_Silence (9)
1320302 2013-01-15 22:15:00 I've got a good chance of getting some compensation, but of course not enough to pay for lost time and iPhone 3g costs.

I have to stay with Orcon, as I've signed a 2 year contract. If I cancel, I'm responsible for the pro-rated remaining amount.

It was the risk I took for using the free install, and being a early adopter.

I'd say that based on the time taken for them to resolve the issue, it's unacceptable, and more than ample reason to get out of the contract. I'm pretty confident the TDR would side with you also.
