1296363 2012-08-24 01:52:00 ...not all beneficiaries are happy to be unemployed ... I don't know anyone that can actually live on the dole....its pathetic.

Agree. It's really hard to even imagine how anyone can actually live on the dole - considering the costs of living these days. Rents, petrol, car maintenace, food, clothings, etc., etc., how to manage and cope with it???? Maybe I got to learn from them on "Financial Management skills" Or, our finance minister should learn from them, too. :D

1296364 2012-08-24 02:27:00 What would your solution be ruup? If you have some good ideas, you should share them with the rest of the country.

Here's a few things for the pot... have fun pulling them apart.

What would I Do?

1. Raise the ‘Super Age’

2. Introduce a Transaction tax

3. Less MP’s (perhaps have their pay performance based)

4. Remove MP’s Perks and make them accountable.

5. Remove MP’s ‘Conscience Votes’ so that they represent constituents not them selves.

6. Faze out the DPB. Stop Baby Farming.

7. Raise the drinking age.

8. Raise the price of Booze, make booze related accidents chargeable to those that are boozed.

9. Nationalize the basics of life. Power ,water in public hands etc to stop price gouging.

10. Compulsory public service for 12 months if youngsters are not involved in further education or in employment.

11. Legalize Marijuana for personal use, thus free up court and police time, whilst removing an income stream of the gangs.

12. Crime - Life means life.

1296367 2012-08-24 05:27:00 32 years of chronic mismanagement will not be recovered from in many years, if at all. Bigger events are coming which are going to make this laughably managed economy seem like a storm in a teacup. zqwerty (97)

Good to see you have some ideas and are happy to share them. Now, how do each of these decrease the gap between rich and poor?

uh...whats the matter with a gap between the rich and the poor?

People should put their efforts into providing for themselves and their families rather then what other people have.

The answer is hard work. And PRIDE. It starts in the home, not in cash from the government or race based policy.

The question is not about those who are better off.

I agree with you Metla (as you may have noticed from other posts I've made in the forum over the years).

My question for ruup was how the ideas he'd proposed would solve what he thinks is a problem.

1296372 2012-08-24 21:20:00 " It will improve financial and social outcomes for beneficiaries with children and value the capacity of widows and single women to work."

How's that for a filthy bit of spin?

Now don't get me wrong, I approve overhauling welfare, but I do not respect the way they twist the message... "value the capacity of widows and single women to work" meaning "we will expect them to get jobs".

Pity they're to pansy to say it straight. Probably paid a select committee made up of their relaitves for a month to come up with that little filthy spin.
