Yep ... Let's give this guy a chance ... I'm sure after attending his daughters wedding(S), one in London and one in Paris, both of which are probably be paid for with the money belonging to people whose life savings and retirement funds he ripped off ... he'll just make a detour to Switzerland, empty his bank account, return to NZ with all the $$$ he's been sitting on AND repay all investors ... everything will return to normal and all will be forgiven ...

!2volts ... you can be in charge of the wet bus ticket and dish out the whipping of the fraudster when (and if) he should ever return to NZ.

We definitely need a Tui Sign ...

1296210 2012-08-22 21:58:00 I love how everyone harps on about the money side of things here, yet there are dozens of cases of rapists, murderers and other violent criminals also being given freedoms like this. Tell you what, I'd rather this guy was free than someone who's brutally assaulted several people. But those types get let out to go back and live 10 minutes from their victims. inphinity (7274)

And WHERE on this site does everyone say they support rapists and murderers being let out. Just because we don't want this guy to have this luxury does not mean we support others to have the same right.

1296212 2012-08-22 22:05:00 Point taken infinity ... but if you were retired and had your life savings taken by some prize p!ck ... you might feel a bit violated as well ... and it's not just "several" people he's raped and pillaged, it's many. SP8's (9836)

Your kidding me. This guy is convicted waiting appeal. You don't get out of jail to go to Europe for a wedding. Sounds like his buddies in the justice system have a nudge, nudge , wink , wink relationship. The person who approved this should be out of a job. I bet a lot of the investors in this company can't even afford to go from Auckland to Hamilton these days..

You sure hold some sick views on criminals and their rights. This guy and people like him should be executed or at least jailed for life.

And the cost of them being in jail should be paid by them out of their swiss bank account. Don't see why we should pay to keep him in jail when he can stump up the cost.

I agree, and I'm by no means condoning what he's been allowed to do. But I'm trying to highlight that it is an overall failing in the NZ justice system, regardless of ones financial resources, that far too many convicted criminals are given freedoms and allowances that, in my opinion, they should not be. A lot of people seemed to believe this guy only got this treatment because he has money - I believe he got this treatment because NZ justice system is a joke in general. The fact that he used said freedom to take a holiday is because he has the money to do so, but from a point of view of simply being granted some freedoms, it's no different in my view to those many other criminals who don't have money stashed away, but who are given freedoms within the community - many of whom go on to re-offend violently. For some reason, our justice system seems to think if we're nice to people who aren't nice, that things will be all fluffy, and it's rubbish.

Still awaiting the court action against all Financial Advisors' for poor advice given to investors', that will be the day too.

Agreed. If its any help, some financial planners (who started life as insurance agents) have lost their businesses and become bankrupt. Plenty have been sued.
