1296185 2012-08-22 03:05:00 And how is that different from any other monthly / weekly prepay plan?? You always have to pay upfront.

I think the problem is you pay up front (prepay) and when it runs out you buy some more. For the monthly "prepaid" you pay up front a fixed fee monthly (Forever) and you get a better deal.

I like the prepay because there are some months when i would make 5 txts, some where i would make maybe 100.

the prepaid plan is pretty good though i must admit at $228 per year :waughh:

1296186 2012-08-22 04:05:00 Telecom should offer the cheaper plans as for Skinny - since I think they though own the Skinny brand. I'm on Telecom's open plan, a bit dearer than Skinny's. But sometimes discounts are credited, not quite sure what for though. But i think you can get more addon's (e.g. mobile to landline) or are more likely to, or perhaps specials that may crop up.

Telecom did have a entry/semi-budget level plan XT one-bill plan, which got pulled for new sign up's, not long before their budget skinny arrived I think.

1296187 2012-08-22 04:24:00 Telecom announce a new $19 prepay plan this week..

www.telecom.co.nz

This is a kick in the balls to anyone on a post-paid plan. This plan works out much better than their 40$ post paid plan.
This is preposterous. As is their crap with Skinny undermining all pay monthly customers.

I am on an 80$ plan - which was great when I got it but now there is no value for money.

I always thought that it was supposed to be the other way around. Pre-paid should be economically sound low volume customers, and post paid should be better for high volume and business customers.
Bastards.

1296189 2012-08-22 22:53:00 I am with Telecom. My landline and cellphone accounts are linked. I use my cellphones mainly for emergencies. I only make a few calls from it each month so my cellphone usually costs me less than $5 per month. These calls are added to my monthly telephone account. Bobh (5192)

His fones on Onebill. Same as my wife's one but if you make calls it gets expensive these days @ 57C/ minute. Big problem with Onebill is that if say your going away you can't buy casual minutes like on prepay. She also has a $6 text and data plan as well.. I'm getting temped to put her on prepay these days..

I meant, the $19 Telecom plan provides you with set minutes/text/data which doesn't get carried over if you don't use it all up.
A real prepay/prepaid plan doesn't provide you set items, so if you don't use it up ... you still get the credit the next month to use.

Arguably the $19 plan is a post paid, post paid without contract basis 2D offers carries over minutes ...

My mum's on that. She uses probably $10 for the year :D
2D if the area supports it, 9c text or 39c calling or something like that. All prepay. I also picked up a $75 phone for $5 when a 2D shop had their first day promotion (with a simcard and probably a bit of credit too). It auto enabled for international roaming too.
