1320583 2012-12-29 04:41:00 I went to use my tablet today for the first time since Xmas and couldn't get on the net at all. After a bit of expermienting I manually picked another channel on my router and everything is working again.
I was curious so I installed wi-fi analyser on the tablet (great app) and bloody hell I get 9 different networks showing up in my lounge! 2 of them on the same frequency my router had chosen automatically.
1 of the routers in range has the same name (linksys) as a work network and is on the same channel my home network was using - I think the tablet was alternately trying to connect to both and getting nowhere.

In the other side of the house I only see 3 networks.

So how do I deal with too much wi-fi in my neighbourhood? is there anyway to block the tablet from attempting to connect to others ?

1320584 2012-12-29 04:46:00 I don't see how its getting the two confused. Even if they have the same name and are the same model they will still both have a seperate MAC address and other identifying things. Slankydudl (16687)
1320585 2012-12-29 04:50:00 I had a similar problem here and ended up setting the router channel manually. Seems to have solved the congestion problem for me. I guess wireless home networks are now the norm and automatic channel selection has its limitations. CliveM (6007)
1320586 2012-12-29 07:32:00 How far away from the router/antenna are you? Maybe you need a repeater. Wireless seems to have trouble getting through more than a couple of internal walls in my house. Strange thing is that all the neighbours' wifi signals come in with at god strength! coldot (6847)
