98005 2002-11-12 03:17:00 A friend just asked me what software he needed to do that.

Is it easy or hard? With software that comes with OS or do we need to find him something else?

I could just look, I suppose, but I figure I'll get better advice here.

98006 2002-11-12 03:21:00 Recording cassettes is easy, and creating MP3s is easy, but combining the two I've never done :D but it can't be that hard :)

Sorry, useless comments I know :p

98007 2002-11-12 03:31:00 We've had threads here about recording CDs from vinyl. Instead of plugging a record player (through a preamp) into your soundcard, plug a cassette drive into the Line input. Graham L (2)
98008 2002-11-12 03:38:00 And use any old MP3 creation software? Or is there one that does the job. Don't need flash, just need easy and reliable and cheap (not asking much, I know).

PS Mike, aren't you supposed to be busy?

Hi Robo,

If you download Musicmatch Jukebox (basic) you can do it from there. Easy as evidently - they will even walk you through it!

98013 2002-11-12 04:07:00 It shouldn't be hard .. :O

If the cassettes player have RCA output then use an RCA to stereo jack to input the audio to the line in jack of the sound card.

If not, then hopefully the player has an headphone jack so u can use headphone jack to headphone jack cables to input to line in of the sound card.

I'm sorry if I'm not correct about those cable and jack terms :D

Anyway, once u've got that done, you should be able to use any wav recorder to record the audio into wav format and then use Nero or Easy CD Creator...etc to convert it to MP3 :^O

Ahhhhhh I knew there was a race involved. Maybe you could hack into her computer so she can no longer post messages. Or even bribe Robo with a cream bun to have her banned :-):-):-):-)
