97880 2002-11-12 03:26:00 Don't forget when you do an HP you pay lots more than you would with cash. Make sure you ask for a final price including insurance, interest, fees etc...

It's easy to get ripped off with an HP especially when your stuff gets repod and you only have $50 left to pay and they sell the lot for $100 and then turn around and charg you a whole lot more for fees on top of whats left you owe...

Never ever falling for that trap again myself. I pay with cash. If I don't have cash, I don't buy it.

97881 2002-11-12 03:32:00 Hi Chris - I made a couple of calls - Retravision Palmerston North E-mail addy - delwyn@bandm.co.nz, they have h.p for dig cams but apparently don't sell games there.
Noel Leemings H.P minimum is $250, however they won't do games on h.p as they say they are unrecoverable in cases of breach of contract, will do dig cams on h.p of course though and also said if you were buying a computer from them they would then let you add software/games to the h.p.
Hope that helps :-)

97882 2002-11-12 03:39:00 WOW lots of people saying heaps of different things :D
emailed computer city just after putting up the thread..
the response was.....(((their spelling aint good too lol..)))

Thank you for your inquiry. When buying goods on Hire Purchase at least one
of the items must have a minimum value of $249.99. So far as I can recall
none of the games we currently sell are priced at this level so its
unlikely we could do hire purchase on games oalone.

So MIGHT just leave it for now and wait for a while

and J ZEP, I really appreciate you calling them for me :D Thanks so much, will give them a email and see about digicams..mite wait for a while as well, dont even know what i getting for xmas **santa..if ur reading this...get the hint**
So might just wait till after then :-)
tiime to start saving thou :D

97883 2002-11-12 04:24:00 I'm really glad that SoniK said it first (so that I can back him up :D), but he's given some excellent advice. You are far better off disciplining yourself and putting away into the bank as much money as you can and save up for what you want.

Forget HP. Apart from being CHEAPER it's a nice feeling to walk out the door having paid cash for something and knowing that it's YOURS and you don't have to worry about the next installment. You can often get a bit of a discount with hard cash too. Plus, by the time you've saved up enough money the price has often come down too. ;-)

97884 2002-11-12 08:09:00 Hi...

Used HP for nearly twenty years, - ok if you can handle payments and perhaps calculate payments, like me. Excel has preset settings for amortization tables (similar to HP calculations), for quickly displaying monthly payments (split as interest/principle) in a table... Can also calculate backwards using goal seek to find no. of months based on how much you can afford per month...Plus the input tables for increasing interest rates and the corresponding payments...
But as Susan B says you can get trapped with what you have, while upgrades occur seemingly forever...like PC's. I got this PC + plenty of educational games through "the learning factory", perhaps try them by ringing them...

Cheers...

97885 2002-11-12 08:30:00 Did you know that the company that owns Noel Leemings, also owns Bond and Bond, and lo! they are a finance company.... Pacific Retail Finance nonetheless...
